good job - he looks delicious!
Yep lots of nice bucks down that way. Must be ALOT of land locked up by antis. Big buck breeding zones. Like this 1 customer and his kids that live next to Loch Raven, every year they shoot nice 8+ pointers, and the father has killed 3 piebalds as well- and all 3 full mounted. He said "I think that's enough piebalds for me". All were small deer though, I'm sure if he sees a big buck one, he will get it. Or the kids nail 1. The dad also has plenty of stories about antis, dumb neighbors calling the police during shotgun season, and his "shot 3 antlerless in a row" culling stories. Now I don't hear too many poacher stories, but he does have to run some guys off now and then that he finds trespassing, or call the DNR over a dead deer he finds now and then that someone didn't track, or they shot it illegally.
2 years ago we had a beautiful pie bald that would hang out in one of the fields right by a main rd. some guys saw it, stopped and talked to my neighbor, then had the balls to park at his house one saturday when he wasn't there and try to go back there, me and my buddy about my size went over to say hello and see what they where doing. I let them know that the best thing for them would be to get in there car and leave before they had any problems. never did see them again.
The g2's - how long are they? I've seen them up to 12".
I assume a G2 is a particular antler. Would anyone be kind enough to explain any other relevant terms to this newb?

Thanks xtreme.
Ok, I have to share mine. He's off to the taxidermist now, and out of my hands, so I'm a little shaky/nervous/excited and can't sleep. Here he is:
Measured almost 169 inches, and weighed 178 dressed. I'm pretty stoked. 1st deer of the year for me too
Holy crap, nice one there! 169 green...
Btw I have some customers that ask me for the rack back after I am done the caping and have cut the skull plate/cleaned/boraxed it. Then when it's time to do the mount they bring it back.
