    All,

I currently own an assortment of firearms, but am interested in purchasing my first full auto. It is my understanding that AK's, M-16's and MP5's are legal to purchase in MD. Is it correct that we can only buy used AK's and M-16's, but new MP5's? If so, what are the pros for buying used weapons versus new? I have bought all of my weapons new and am a little uncomfortable buying twenty year old guns. Serious responses only please.

The biggest problem is the cost. Cheapest things are the MAC-10's, which run $3,500+. M-16 will run roughly $15,000, MP-5 will be $20,000. If they are well taken care of, the receiver should be perfectly functional. You can replace all of the other parts. People have made AR-15 receivers out of wood, and there are commercially made plastic AR receivers. If you have the money, knock yourself out. If you don't have the money....you know why the rest of us don't have one.
