I Would like to put a flash suppressor on a colt H-bar that I bought during the AWB. I saw in the brownells catalog that I could order a tap and die set to do this. My question is how hard is it to keep it lined up so that I dont end up with a crooked suppressor and a useless messed up barrel? Should I just go to a gunsmith?

    Send it out

Send it off to a qualified shop to do a single point thread job. You want to make damn sure the threads are consentric to the bore.

It may cost more, but it's money well spent.

Adco Firearms is a highly recommended shop. but they have a bit of a back log currently.

    From Adco Firearms' web site:
Barrel Threading For AR and other standard Barrels $65.00
This covers cutting as well as threading. These threads will be the perfect size threads and will be perefctly concentric to the bore. We do U.S. RH threads only. The barrel must be removed from the receiver for this service.

    Perhaps this guy:
    Scott's Gunsmithing
    (410) 761-9815
231 Thelma Ave, Glen Burnie, MD 21061

If he can't do it, he probably could suggest someone.

If you're anywhere near Harford, Jack Mortimer at Jack's Gun Works will do it for around 50 bucks also. I would not try doing it myself.

ADCO threaded my AR barrels still on the reciever right after the ban sunset. Good work. Fast turn around back then.

I have bought lots of other stuff from Steve as a result. Good RRA prices and he actually has stuff. He usually has what others don't. He also didn't raise prices during the drought- he still sells below MSRP. Good guy!
