  • Hi guys this is my first post here on mdshooters.
Say I were to go a VA local gun shop and notice he has a SCAR for sale.
Now the FN SCAR is not on the ban list, but it does have a folding stock and flash suppressor.

If the dealer were to remove the flash suppressor, could I legally buy it?
What if he removed the suppressor and THEN shipped it to a FFL in MD, so when it arrived at the shop it would be without it.
I know is a stretch, but it is just a for instance.

I guess it's the part of finding a dealer who will remove it for me then.
I figure that any FFL in Maryland can't have any SCAR shipped to them new because they would all come with the stock and suppressor.

A shop could have one shipped to them but couldn't sell it to you unless they swapped out the flash suppressor for a compensator or muzzle break

you really don't need to "swap" right away, just take off the PWS device and purchase with just threaded barrel. Add brake later when you get a chance/cash!

it is NOT a flash suppressor, it is a muzzle brake, and all that is required is to literally unscrew it. This should not be a problem either way. If the guy tells you he isn't comfortable classifying it as a brake, he can remove it in literally 20 seconds.

Head to Constitutional Firearms; got my SCAR 16 there and had my SCAR 17 shipped to them no problems, great guys. They won't give you any crap.

^+1. I think the weight and balance makes it a bit better than my Sig 716. Both are a hoot to shoot though.
