Anyone know of someone in the Frederick area that would let me use their land for shooting? I'm looking to work on my holster shooting and no range allows that, that I know of.

Dave - Thanks for the welcoming man! I will definitely check out all of the links.

Zombie - Thanks as well! I know about Cresap and plan on going tomorrow if the weather is decent. However, I can't work on holster shooting and they are only open to the public on Sundays for now. I love to shoot more then once a week and Continental Arms is pretty far away (pretty good indoor range with good prices).

The NRA range in NOVA does let you pratice holster draw. In fact you can program the target holder to turn, so you can draw on it.

Its not Fredrick - but its not far! Its indoor too, so you can shoot rain, snow, or shine.

Well the Monocacy Pistol Club next to the Cresap range allows holster drawing in some of the steel matches. But you need to either have have card with a ranking from a national/international organization that draws, like IDPA, USPSA, SC, maybe SASS, and be checked out by an RO, usually DeWayne Veehaus. Or have taken drawing instruction from our resident big time shooter Robby Orent and be a member. Most of the guys who shoot raceguns in our club steel matches draw these days. Some of the stock/production/limited class shooters also.

/hijack... did I see steel matches mentioned in there :D I wouldn't mind learning more about this, seeing that not very far up the road from me
and I have been wanting to get in to this type of matches, just don't know where to start...
    /end hijack :D

I have a small "range" set up right now, but I don't think I would run much over 22's on it for the current time.

I live in new market as well. I was going to ask where the closest skeet/ trap range is at. I've been to cresap with a rifle. Nice place for that but can't help with the pistol dilemna. Sorry.
