At that price that magazine better come with ammo in it. That .50gi ammo is worse than .50ae; like over $2 a round.

I heard of the .50 GI. I don't think the ballistics are that great. It is like a bigger .45 acp

    Specs:

    185 gr (12.0 g) SCHP 1,200 ft/s (370 m/s) 591 ft·lbf (801 J)
    230 gr (15 g) SCHP 1,000 ft/s (300 m/s) 510 ft·lbf (690 J)
    275 gr (17.8 g) JHP 875 ft/s (267 m/s) 468 ft·lbf (635 J)
    300 gr (19 g) TMJ 700 ft/s (210 m/s) 326 ft·lbf (442 J)

    Yeah, I'm not impressed.

Standard pressure .45ACP can throw a 230 grain bullet around 900ish FPS, add on another 50 or so for a +P load. The 10mm can send one downrange at around 1,100FPS, or faster than this. Now before you call me a velocity snob let's also consider the 10mm is CHEAPER than the 50GI and the .45ACP is infinitely cheaper still.

I think this guy hit the nail on the head:

Though I don't know for a fact, it seems that it's a proprietary cartridge. In other words, rather than allowing the world to make it, as for example S&W recently has done with the 500 S&W Magnum, 460 S&W Magnum, and 40 S&W, and for that matter has been done with every single successful handgun cartridge that exists, Guncrafter Industries is keeping it to themselves, so you can't buy the ammo or even brass from anyone else.

No proprietary handgun cartridge has EVER been successful.

Various proprietary cartridges have been introduced, for example the 440 Cor-Bon as one example, and they've all entered the water without a splash and soon sunk totally or at best been fringe items.

If that's the case here, will they buck the vast, overwhelming, no-exceptions trend? There is no indication they will.

I believe this is why you haven't seen much of the 50 GI and probably won't in the future either, though there have been a few gun rag articles here and there.

A perfect manstopper! (Or I could just double tap with 9mm and have the same effect for a fraction of the cost.)

Not to mention if you're willing to handload or pay $$$$ for ammo, you'd be better off with a 460 Rowland conversion; 230gr @ 1300 fps.

I would never handicap my G20 with that hunk of junk. For less money you can get a 6" barrel and long slide for the 10mm. That would be more worthwhile.
