If it were me I'd carry up until the point I'd have to walk in the airport. Id leave it in the car..thats just me.

I have both MD and DC..just pop the 10+1 in the bish and ride out.

I've flown to FL out of DCA with a firearm claimed. Its my go to airport

After going to Capital One Arena and seeing their "metal detectors", it makes me wonder about who else is using similar tech. You absolutely could set those in an airport with police to stop anyone who sets one off.
Unless something has changed, firearms are permitted outside of the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) specified by CFR Title 49 unless the State where the airport is located has additional prohibition laws.

I haven't been following airport laws since I don't visit large airports anymore so don't take this as gospel. :D

Yes the USPP patrol the parkway, but DC law applies. The distance is about 1 mile. I measured it. Just be careful.

Also, MPD does not patrol the Wilson Bridge. By agreement PG and Alexandria do. MPD and DCFD cover the water under and around the bridge

And Reagan Airport is in Arlington, VA not DC

Here are two drawings of the area in question. One is from VCDL and the other I made
