Stay away from Church & Isabella Streets. :sad20: Stay ON CAMPUS students.... it is what it is and if Bobo had a son he's lurking. :mad54: Parts of Berlin and Princess Anne are no better, Cambridge even worse.... shame it really is a sportsman's paradise but Noooooooooooooooooooooo.

While I agree somethings need to change ... those stats are a little misleading. Everyone who's ever lived in Salisbury knows that it's not a city of 28,000 people. We are not a city defined by our city limits.

Our regional population is more relevant as everyone in the region comes here and then exits the city to go home. Most of the neighborhoods and housing areas are outside of city limits. The housing within city limits is all low to mid-low income at best. We have literally 2-3 nice areas within the city for living. The proportion of violent crimes would go significantly if our city limits weren't so skewed.

And this is just a guess, but i'd venture to say that most of the violent crime within the city is drug/gang related, but mostly going after other drug and gang people. That's just a guess though.

I've lived here almost my entire life and rarely do I ever feel unsafe. I'm also a Real Estate agent in town, and I go to some unsavory places from time to time and generally it's still not that bad compared to some city streets i've walked in other cities.

This I agree with. Cambridge is worse in my opinion. Princess Anne and Pocomoke have some very questionable areas.

I have some houses listed off of Church street and generally I feel safe there. I'll restate that I think most of the crime is low-life vs low-life. But again these are just my experiences.

Have no idea now but people were paying BIG bucks to buy in Newtown in the 90's..... mistake IMO.

It's a shame to be honest. I LOVE old homes, and the architecture. There's a big movement to clean up Newtown/Isabella street area. I'm not sure if it'll work, but i'd love to see it clean that area up. A lot of beautiful homes that have lost most of there value due to the crime in that area.

If you ask me ... the circled part is the worst part of Salisbury. And i'm not talking about Fitzwater exclusively, i'm more referring to the area Delaware Ave. I know it's a small area, but i've driven through there a couple times and every time I feel as if i'm going to get jumped each an every time.

Definitely, and it's funny because it's literally across the street from the PD.

The city itself really isn't bad, and there's actually some really nice areas.

Not only dangerous because of the crime but because of all the pollution the city dumps into the river. This has been a problem for years and the mayor does nothing. For those of you that live there you should be concerned and research it.

A while back I was trolling around the shore on my motorcycle and managed to wonder into some part of Salisbury I was unfamiliar with. I felt like I was in South East DC. I was ready to jump the curb or lane split to get out of Dodge if the need arose.

Raised between Salisbury and Delmar. GREAT place up until 20 years ago. Started slipping and just got worse.
Left 22 years ago and I'm soooo glad.
Dad told me a long time ago that anyone that could afford to leave was running out as fast as they could go. It's largely a town of renters and college dwellings.
Nephew is a cop there and has rolled up to a half dozen dead bodies in the last year.
Oh, and stay well off the reservation (west of town), in addition to Booth, Lake, Cypress, and Church.
Clark Avenue in Pocomoke was an absolute sh1thole 20 years ago, as well.

Salisbury is bad but has nothing on other areas of the shore. I'd rather get lost in Salisbury than Cambridge, Princess Anne, Pocomoke, Crisfield or numerous other towns.

MD is practicing a catch and release program.

They catch bad guys in Baltimore, put them in the pen south of Princess Anne, then just let them out at the gate when their time is up. They don't go home, but instead wander into Princess Anne, Pokomoke, and Salisbury and stay there.
