Got a reply from my CLEO

I sent my forms to BATF and my CLEO (Balto. County). Got a response letter from CLEO notifing that they recieved the app and would keep it on file. Was suprised, never expected a reply. Maybe they are paying attention. Anyone else have this happen?

no, because they dont require anything. No forms or any notification from your part.

why did you send anything to your CLEO?

from the application:

"Applicants must submit “copy 3” of this form to the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) of the locality in which the premises sought to be licensed are located. The CLEO is the Chief of Police, the Sheriff, or an equivalent officer, or the designee of such individual."

They don't have to give approval, you just have to notify them...or at least that's the way I understood it when I filled out the application.

I got a personal letter from Sheriff Gary Hofmann in Queen Anne's County thanking me for notifying him along with his business card.

I sent mine to the Carroll County sheriff, along with a cover letter saying, "I am enclosing your copy of (this form etc.). It requires no action on your part."

The unstated hope is that they'll just shitecan it.

Oddly enough, a television repair truck showed up a few days later, and has been parked across the street ever since.

I seriously doubt it. I would expect that it is filed and somehow cross referenced to your address.
