It came yesterday and I have been breaking it in yesterday and today. Based on videos and reports, I first checked all the hardware was secure, filled with oil and made the supplied oil separator into a water/oil separator until I can buy one. I did this by cutting a filter into three pieces, installing a piece at each end and adding desiccant beads in the middle.
I have not received my male to male Forster fitting so I couldn't fill up my air tank. (it was supposed to be here but you know the post office ) So, I passed the time by running the pump and shooting my rifle. I used Husky synthetic oil from Home Depot for the break-in time. After that, I will fill with Royal Purple.
I have a vibrating hour meter on order, and also a Fahrenheit temp indicator (7.99 from Amazon and fits in the same hole as the Celsius unit. I'm too old to change. I'm also ordering a $19 water pump from Amazon which will put out more gph than the one that came with the pump. One video guy did the measurements and found the larger pump does a better job of cooling.
I just modified the valve on my Marauder Pistol and needed to re work the shot string. This pump was perfect for that. I was running strings from 3000 to 2000 and 2600 to 1800 and refilling only took about 20 seconds. By the end of the day, the compressor temp was at 50C using the same bucket of water all day. The discharge was noticeable warmer during my last fill.
Since fill up didn't take long, I was letting the compressor run for 15 minutes every fill up without a load. I put five hours on it in the last two days and did my first oil change. It was no where near as bad as some folks have reported on line.
Oh, does anyone want a beat Benjamin hand pump.
