I just purchased a New Savage in 17HMR. I lucked out and got it on sale @ Dick's. I got tired of hearing how much fun everybody else was having shooting these fast and accurate little rifles. Can't wait to shoot it @ the range tomorrow. If it's what everybody says it is, Groundhog hunting should be fun. Pic's of gun and targets soon to be released.

    Field tested !!!

Well it was'nt long ago I talked about getting my Savage 93.17 HMR. I took it to the range and she performed great with 1/4 groups @ 100 yds using Hornady 17gr V-max bullets. I tried all the ammo CCI, Remington,Winchester, Federal and Hornady. My gun does not like the 20gr bullets of any brand, it does however love to shoot Hornady V-Max bullets in 17 grain. I love this gun, it only cost me $249.95 and it came with a scope and a Fluted Bull Barrel. I'am very lucky to have this gun becuase I think somebody @ the factory screwed up and put my gun in a box marked for a much lesser valued gun. According to the numbers on my reciever, I should have gotten a 21' taperd barrel. Well anyways I'm lovin it, and I even put a camo job on the stock. Here's some pics of me with my second GroundHog !

There was a Marlin 917 SS just like your gun in the picture, the price was $399.99. I held it and it felt good but I was'nt ready to spend 4 Benjamins for such a small caliber. I might put a custom stock on mine later, but for now I'm enjoying what I have. By the way thats a nice looking rifle.
