After reading through several posts in the Gun Show forum I have a question.

What is the point of going any more? Ammo is through the roof, accessories are either impossible to get or non-existent, and gun prices are, well, ridiculous to say the least. Am I wrong in thinking this? I mean, I don't want to pay $7-8 to stand shoulder to shoulder and knee deep in a bad scene from Bidding Wars hoping to find something and then only to get ripped off by people in our hobby.

So I guess the question is, is it still worth going to a gun show?

Pretty much only if you need some obscure part or unique firearm to add to a collection. Otherwise you are correct about regular run of the mill parts and ammo.

The only reason I go is for the types of used guns that 99% of the crowd skips over. Deals can be had on those, if it floats your boat, as it does for me.

Depends what u want I picked up mosin food 440rds for $80 and 54 en bloc clips for $65. Lou at shooters discount always brings good stuff and often he unveils his latest at the shows.

...the point of going is so that we have gun shows to go to in the future. It sounds dumb, and it kind've is, but it's reality.

Cause gun shows are where you generally find the best selection of cheap, Chinese knives :)

    and jerky of course.

As with anything else, there are deals to be found depending on what you are looking for and how hard you look. I'm primarily into C & R; I can always find deals at most gun shows for C & R guns. Likewise, for milsurp supplies such as period slings, other parts, there's no place like a gun show to see and handle before buying.

Modern stuff? Everyone wants it, there are many dealers, why should there be great deals?

Like a gentleman's club , you pay to get in and it's expensive to look and there are "don't handle" signs here and there and you go home all worked up with nothing to show for it and "play with your guns." But really it's true we either use it or lose it, supply will catch up with demand and the gun shows might not get back to normal but things will cool off, the zombie hoard of people who never went to gun shows before this will disappear and thr rediculous lines will go away. Or stupid laws will get passed and we all suffer hopefully not this.

It lasts longer than a movie and is always more entertaining.

I always buy something at the show.
