Where can I get an AK-47. I've NEVER seen a true bona-fide AK-47 in my life except for in pictures. I've seen plenty of AKMs, and clones of AKMs, but a bona-fide milled receiver, chrome bolt AK with the straight muzzle nut!?!?! WHERE CAN I GET ONE!?!

Besides, I thought they were heavily regulated since 1939 (before they were even invented), and then the '86 ban went into effect...

Obama should be more concerned with taking AK-47s out of the hands of criminals and putting them into the hands of the curators of the country's best firearms museums. Or at least allow a collector to buy it! :D

Am I the only person who thought the crowd at Invesco Field looked brain washed? The speech Obama made was the scariest thing I ever heard.
He is a Socialist! This is what I got out of it, AWB, Welfare, and Socialist Health Care.:mad54:

And the majority of the American electorate is ready to accept Socialism. They will readily embrace it.

I thought back to Stephen King's "The Stand". Felt like Randal Flagg addressing the masses.

Ok, to play the devil's advocate here... I don't know the last time it happened, but I believe that was the weapon of choice in the North Hollywood Bank shootout. The question should be when was a crime last commited with a legally purchased AK-47. I don't know if those were legally purchased, but they were of course illegaly modified.

Are AKs used in crimes, of course they are, but on a much smaller scale than cars, hands, feet, knives, spoons, bricks, rocks, frying pans, rope, pipes, and so on. One thing that AKs ARE used for the world over is civil defense and rebellions against dictators, both are integral parts of the 2nd ammendment's purpose, and probably why our liberal dictators in waiting are so terrified of the millions of AKs, ARs, FALs and other effective small arms in patriotic civilian hands. The average street thug's stolen 20 year old Raven with it's 6 rounds of 25acp poses no threat to them, but a group of citizens that out numbers the military nearly 10 to 1 armed and proficient with a variety of modern small arms keeps them honest, and politicians don't like to be honest;)

Just read the text, and one I took issue with -

When I listen to another worker tell me that his factory has shut down, I remember all those men and women on the South Side of Chicago who I stood by and fought for two decades ago after the local steel plant closed.

Having grown up right next door to the South Side, I don't seem to remember "the local steel plant" closing when I was eight. Probably don't remember it because my old man worked at one, and my grandfather worked at the other. Oh wait, that's right, NONE of the local steel plants have closed! Yes, two (Inland Steel and LTV Steel) were bought out, a decade ago, not two!

I know, big deal that I'm throwing a BS flag on a politician, but I find it disgusting that he's openly lying about something that's easily researched. Don't know about anyone else, but he's spitting in my face when he does that.

That north Hollywood bank thing was a clear exception to the rule.

However back in March the bank near La Salle and Joppa was robbed by criminals and at least one AK (clone more than likely) was being carried during the robbery.

I think Obama could come out and tell us he likes to kick puppies while snorting meth and the media wouldn't report it. They are not going to report anything negative about him, they simply aren't.

This kind of talk from an attorney who specialized in constitutional law really scares the piss out of me. He is asserting his false view in order to warp the application of the constitution. This sounds very pre-war Nazi Germany to me, or what any other dictator says right before they take power.

Excellent point. This proves he is elistist gun grabber. He has no problem disarming those who live in some of worst city and that have no guarantee of police protection. Disarmed population is easier to oppress and loot.

LOL @ the irony of complaining about making statements without doing research.....It took me 5 mins to find this on google.

"The Wisconsin Steel Company, a subsidiary of Envirodyne Industries Inc., has been purchased by the United States Economic Development Adminstration for $35 million.

The Government agency was the only bidder in bankruptcy proceedings in United States District Court for the company, with property in six states, including a Chicago plant.

The Government indicated that it was planning to look for another buyer for the South Side Chicago plant, which closed in March 1980, throwing more than 3,000 workers out of their jobs."

Duly noted, and I'll take my lumps on poor research. That's what I get for typing while I'm still pissed.

Found a speech where Obama mentions the steel plant by name. Obama's speech on manufacturing and trade

Barack Obama did not become a community organizer on the South Side until 1985-86. Wisconsin Steel closed its doors in March 1980. Five years is a little late to be "standing by and fighting for" those workers who were laid off. Additionally, 28 years is not what comes to mind when one says "two decades ago".

There were two major steel mills (Inland Steel and Republic Steel, later LTV) about 15 miles away in East Chicago, Indiana. Both mills were working and actively hiring. Ditto for US Steel, 5 miles further in Gary. Not sure I'm able to believe that those 3,000 workers were unable to find work at those mills. I definitely don't buy into the belief that all was dull and gray in the South Side until the Anointed One came strolling along in his brown bomber jacket.

I suppose my refusal to drink the Kool-Aid makes me a bitter gun-owner. So be it.
