Let today be a lesson that whenever someone tells you "don't even try because the gun grabbers in Maryland can do whatever they want" they are full of shit. The anti-gun forces are much weaker in support than they want you to believe.

Thank you. You said this a month or so ago, and more than once, when nattering nabobs of negativism were trying to discourage others from protesting or even providing testimony in Annapolis. I was damn proud watching MDSers testify at 3am after a long day of gun bill deliberations - where Democratic legislators were often asking questions to get more information and better understanding the impact on citizens. It was re-affirming. Honestly, even with a significant loss on SB1000, the outcome on other key pieces of proposed legislation was even better than I might have expected.

I am not disagreeing with this observation: Every year (except 2013) a lot seems to get proposed and very little gets passed. I cant decide whether Maryland has a culture of showboating, or if the anti-gun forces are really that weak. Most of the delegates seem to talk a huge anti-gun game but in the reality have little appetite for it. The question is: to what do we owe, this, and how can we harness it and go on offense.

    Fat Mike.

I fear the MGA without him.

We encountered this over and over from the various people we encountered over the last two months. The LEOs that I encountered had nothing but positive comments about us, and always unsolicited comments. I was getting tapped on the back by folks to tell me they're with us. There ya go.

    Yeah, this^^^.

It's very gratifying to receive positive feedback from passers-by and legislators. I believe that the ratio of thumbs-up to middle-finger salute is well over 10/1, maybe as high as 20/1.

Yet there are people here who continue to take a dump on the efforts of those on the front line. Forgive me, I’ve had enough of that nonsense.

When we were leaving the State House on Tuesday morning circa 12:30am, we received "thank you for being here" and other positive comments from Delegates on their way back to their offices. Sine Die had already occurred. They had no political reason to engage us - the legislative session was closed. In fact, they approached us from behind and initiated the conversation. There was no reason for them to do so if they weren't being genuine. They could have easily ignored us and just kept pace, but chose not to. Everyone who spent time making in-person contact deserves credit for making a huge positive impact.

They have an appetite for Bloomberg money. Say the right things, get the campaign contributions, stay in power.

I'll second all of these comments. Every year - every darned year - we face the same naysayers here in our midst. (You all know who you are!) If those folks spend half the effort contacting their legislators rather than being MDS keyboard commandos telling us we're all doomed, that all of this is for naught, then maybe we'd be even more effective than we already are. All I know is that we could do with a lot less negativism and a lot more help than what we're getting from those who call themselves friends of the 2A.

Just read the MSI round-up on this session. Boy does it feel like Alice through the looking glass reading “big win” in the context of defeating anti-gun legislation in MD.

Thanks to MSI, PP, MSRPA, and other folks who gave up their time, stayed up late, took a vacation day or 2 to preserve our rights.

I donate $ and play keyboard commando with legislators, but that’s about it. I need to do better.
