Hello from Annapolis

Hello,
I'm in the Navy and I've shot military rifles and various pistols before but never had the chance to own one. I decided to buy my first rifle a few weeks ago and after a lot of research, I went with a Savage 11/111 Trophy Hunter XP .223. I read good things about the rifle itself and it included Nikon Prostaff scope for a decent price.
I took a 1.5hr drive to Delmarva rifle range and spent most of today (6 hrs) there and went through about 160 rounds sighting in and then just shooting targets at 25, 100 and 200. It was my first time at a range alone but It was a pretty nice place, people there were friendly and considerate.

I've been reading a lot of posts around the forum and there's a lot of great information here, I really appreciate it. Thanks.

We like DSC too. Leeann has been known to run a few hundred rounds thru some handguns there from time to time. My kid and I shoot a few handgun rounds there, but us redheads usually shoot a little more long gun fun.

Welcome. The Meade Rifle and Pistol club isn't too far from you, they shoot monthly at FGGM Ranges. It's also a good way to get your range badge at AGC.

Come to Anne Arundel Fish and Game. This is a nice place to shoot and meet gun enthusiasts .... The Savage is a good choice.
