MOST OF YOU ARE WRONG ON SOUND---- TRACK TIMERS NEED TO SEE ( AS IN EYESIGHT) THE BLACK POWDER SMOKE TO START THEIR WATCHES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACK-NOT HEAR (AS WITH THE EAR) SOUND TRAVELS SLOWER THAN LIGHT TO GET AN ACCURATE TIME. A BLACK BACKBOARD IS SOMETIMES USED WITH THE GUN TO AID SEEING THE SMOKE. A BLANK STARTER GUN IN .22 or. 32 CAL IS USED WITH BLACK POWDER ( AS IN SMOKE) MUST BE USED. from an old track coach

Nail Blanks are pretty corrosive. i wouldnt use them in a regular firearm ven if they fit the chamber.

Do not bring a firearm on to school property. A blank gun is used for a reason, it cant fire live rounds.

really? I have only seen the ones I have in my garage and it says "not corrosive" right on the box (not non-corrosive like on ammo, but 'NOT CORROSIVE')

I guess they have all kind of different ones.

I wonder how it doesn't pit the inside of the nail gun where the hammer is?

They do not you are correct.

It wasn't going to be used on school property.

I also should have stated that before.

It would still almost certainly be illegal. Police doesn't mean above the law, which doesn't mean they don't get away with a lot. Most suburban Maryland counties have laws against discharge of a firearm unless you are hunting. A blank in a real firearm is still discharging a firearm.

    Edit: gods damn necro thread!
