My Letter:
I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment even though I am a Democrat and generally considered a liberal. The Second Amendment is so important to me that I will make it a single issue vote should it be threatened.
In my view, the Second Amendment is currently under attack. Without the Second Amendment, or similar right, you cannot be a free citizen. History supports this. And the axiom goes, “Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it”
Senator Dianne Feinstein is attempting to ban the importation of military looking firearms. She has requested an executive order from the President to achieve this goal. She states they have no sporting purpose. These firearms have legitimate purposes, self defense being one. In addition, I believe the Second Amendment is so important, that I believe firearm ownership should encouraged.
Mrs. Fienstein is attempting to ban an item that is used in crime, rather than seeking legislature that would punish those who commit crimes, or preventing ownership by those who are not mentally component to handle the responsibility of safe ownership.
The country does not outlaw alcohol because people drive while intoxicated. Nor do they ban cars for the same reason. Aircraft or not banned because bad people fly them into buildings. Busses are banned because they are sometimes crashed. Are you following the logic here?
You must eventually ask yourself, how much is enough? How many laws are we trying to make that do nothing to deter individuals that are evil. This just makes citizens less free, the government more onerous, and our country more socialist.
I am asking you to oppose the actions of Mrs. Feinstein’s actions in adding more restrictions to importing firearms, or any firearm.
As a tax-paying voter, I actively campaign against those who oppose freedom. And those who supporting this action are opposing freedom.
Sent but I know Cardin and Mikulski don't give a crap.
