Joined a long time ago to get some more info from mark75h about his PSL trigger mods. Mine is so sweet now and going strong all these years later.

Been revisiting the forum as my son is currently going through the application process to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Hopefully he gets an appointment. We enjoyed a few days there this fall for a candidate weekend.

Best of luck to your son. Mine did that route 12 years ago and was severely disappointed. Got a nomination to Navy and AF from Barlett. But neither would appoint him. The process is political more than quality of the candidate. Best of luck to your son.

Sorry, I did forget to give a little more info. I have been living in northern Idaho with my wife and kids for the last 9 years. Previously was working in the people’s republic of Kalifornia so I know what it’s like to be under the thumb of anti 2A government. I’m still a longtime member of Calguns forum. I also recognize some Gunboards and AR15.com members here. Over there, I go as bdgfate.

I’m sorry it didn’t happen for your son.
We have definitely heard that it is extremely competitive, more political, and more woke than the Navy my family served in.

That said, when we visited Annapolis, the admissions staff did mention that the closer to Annapolis you live, the more fierce (and political) the process is.

Supposedly, the requirements for a class with geographic diversity is something that can work in his favor. We shall see.

Ultimately, it is his dream, not mine and he will do well wherever he ends up.
