On Dec. 5, 2023, the MD Attorney General asked for a rehearing by the entire Court of Appeals. As a result, the MD HQL law will remain in effect and the HQL class is still required for non-exempt MD residents wishing to purchase a firearm. A court official has indicated that this appeal will be a "lengthily process". The following from FOX 45 News is quoted for your information:
"The court official told FOX45 News this is likely to be a lengthily process before the next court ruling. Until the court decides on Attorney General Anthony Brown’s petition, Maryland’s HQL law will remain effective."
