I like it better in other colors, but I agree that it seems to be a reasonably priced rifle with nice specs. Where are Winchesters made these days?

Maybe Belgium. Maybe Japan. Maybe Turkey. Maybe go F@ck yourself (the departed reference, meant for humor, nothing personal).

Sadly, Winchester is only a brand, anymore.

My model 94 and model 97 weep

My model 12 and model 1300 are inconsolable

They are manufactured in Turkey. I have taken one out for a spin and find it to be a decent semi auto especially for the money. The idea that it will accept 10/22 mags is a bonus. One thing to remember is that the factory mag has a hold open feature that the Ruger mags do not. We have them in stock. www.genesisfirearms.com

I have owned one of these and they are very accurate. Out of the box, I shot it round for round with a tricked out 10/22 and, surprisingly, it's groups were only 1/4 larger at 50 yards.

They are really small. Like kiddie size. I'd rebuy my Rossi for $135 before that. The Rossi and its cheap scope consistently hit a plate at 300 yards. Fun.

No, you are right. Not your father's Winchester. I still like that 22 though.

Ruger has had 50 years to add a last shot hold open.

No , not an old school Winchester . That said , when they first came out , I thought they were interesting . ( But not in that color . If the deal were irresistible deal , it would get introduced to spray can of spruce green .)

There's a young woman on the team who runs a Wildcat, and it seems to work pretty well for her. The magazines are indeed 10/22 compatible, but have varying degrees of fitment due to the rubber bumpers or whatever. That said, I would really not advise buying one for serious use due to the diminished 10/22 parts compatibility.

As a cheap plinker with no big long-term performance expectations? Probably a very good value.

I actually went the Tippmann route because I needed something that could reliably use high-caps (no, BX-25s are not reliable enough in my experience). I'll make a separate post about that eventually.

Half of one Appleseed shoot convinced me that BX-25s weren't reliable enough.

They always seem to crash and burn in front of me shortly after the user proclaims they've never failed. It's almost uncanny. :) I will unreservedly support the usage of 10/22s and 10rd rotary mags for short-burn steel challenge and precision matches, but for high-cap outlaw steel events... not so much.

Not for Appleseed. This would be my Appleseed gun. Well - perhaps too much scope. You guys that use 20X scopes for rimfire shamed me into buying a 12X scope for my rimfire. ;) Actually, this rifle can hit small steel rimfire targets meant for 20 feet at 100 yards.

Personally I prefer the standard 10 round mags with a block attached to the bottom to speed up mag removal. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018783136

These “tri-mag” adaptors seem to serve the same purpose, as far as, “more to grab onto” AND they are pretty darn convenient for steel challenge stages, too!
