I removed the brace so it can’t be re-attached.

I decided to hack the crap out of an SBA3 pistol brace to turn it into a check rest. Would this be legal going forward? It works great and would help the 29” rule.

I don't think that anything outside of a buffer tube and maybe the old school pads are going to be ok. Plus if you're looking to stay pistol why the worry about 29".

Maybe I just don’t understand the rule. I just hate shootin straight buffer tube and I’m trying to figure out what I can do with all these pistol braces I have.

Keep shooting them and let the courts figure it out. 40 million estimated braced pistols in the US, 8 ATF agents assigned to clear E-Form 1's you do the math.

The problem will be the range nazis turning each other in. Lots of public ranges banned mags over 10 rounds during the 2013 debacle.

To satisfy the RSOs? AFT? They haven't defined the size of the rear of an AR stock so...maybe? But depending on the range you go to, the RSO might care.

The OP doesn't Want to SBR .

I dunno what bbl profile is under his handguards .
Barrel profile doesn't matter for SBR.

Anyway, it seems to me that this modified SBA3 is now no different than one of those Thorsden cheek rests which i think will remain legal (?), so.....

    AFAIK.

A thing to remember, Thorsdens don't extend, at least not in the traditional sense. They are also pricey. I think I'll just bide my time here and SBR once out of this state.

The bbl profile vs SBR has been debated at dead horse levels , but without definitive conclusion .

My stamp collection so far are all Grandfathers .

You don't have to do anything with them yet, and most likely won't have to.

Oh yes, I knew that. I have a ton of these braces and was curious if and how easy it was to convert these and if there would be any issues with the hypothetical ATF ”rule”
