I agree the CZ.38 is a worse pistol in some ways
Terrible ergonomics, horrid double-action only trigger, the issue with the slide slamming forward when removing the magazine (but common to other CZ pistols of the day).
The Type 94 exposed trigger bar (or sear bar) was a horrid idea but about the only way it could be with the rest of the design. The trigger itself is a non-robust POS as well with a spring-loaded, wedge-shaped block to drive the trigger bar. It doesn't make for a smooth crisp trigger pull
I used to have a relatively early production TYPE 94 in factory unissued condition. If you cocked it, applied the safety, squeezed and released the trigger and then flipped the safety off, the pistol would fire as the safety was disengaged. Quality!!!!!!
