I'm glad this debate was finally settled(/sarcasm).
I side with Steelteacher.

Forty years ago when I was a manager for a fast food restaurant chain I had a Beretta 950BS Jetfire in .25 ACP. When I was the closing manager I would keep in with me. I wasn't worried about stopping crime in the streets but if we were held up and being marched back into the walk-in refrigerator I figured I would have nothing to lose at that point (that exact thing happened to a Roy Rogers crew a few years earlier in NOVA). I knew having a pistol was against the rules and could have gotten me dismissed but I made that decision willingly.
I also knew to try and use something as effective as possible. I carried was was supposedly the best .25 ammunition available on the market at the time...the Winchester load with a BB in the nose which was allegedly to help the bullet expand. As it was, the restaurant was help up one night but I wasn't working...no one was hurt.
Later I bought some .25 ammunition since banned as it's supposed to penetrate body armor. I purchased it prior to the ban and still have it...can't sell or otherwise transfer it due to it being a violation so I guess it's just a curiosity now. Maybe I should simply shoot it up.
The only pistols I've ever fired using the .25acp were junk. The cartridge may be reliable but the pistols that fire them aren't. Are there any quality .25acp pistols?
