We close on the sale of our MD house on the 30th. We will have finally made our transition to America, living in our new place in Florence, SC, having escaped over the wall from communist Maryland. The border guards thought to harass us one last time as we drove around the beltway through MOCO, but the carry pistol was unloaded and tucked away in a case so their jackbooted tactics wouldn't slow us down. Obviously they were more intent on seeking women with protective orders, doctors with prescription pads, and business owners who carried a lot of cash, as never before making sure they were denied the ability to defend themselves. MOCO politicians are stunningly brave as a few disarmed women murdered by ex-husbands is a small price to pay to make the streets less blood soaked and residents less fearful of wild west shootouts in county parking garages.

It's been our dream to tunnel away from this lefty, worker's paradise and after years of planning and plotting, we have made our way to a new land which promises freedom, honor, and self-respect. We will pray all continuing success for MSI (you have joined haven't you??? And volunteered at their booth at a gun show, right???) as they work to dismantle the unconstitutional laws enacted by the politburo in Annapolis.

Oh, and our property taxes are about 1/10 the thieving commies extort to pay off their voting base in PG and Baltimore.

I'll hoist a Pikesville Rye on Friday while thinking about those who were left behind.

Congrats!!!! We made our escape to Free America at the end of August and have not looked back. Enjoy your newfound freedom.

Put up the good fight while in Maryland, did what I could to support MSI (volunteering at their gun show booths, serving on the safety committee, running range orientations at the AGC and ... money ...) and I think MSI will eventually prevail. OTOH, it's really good to get away from the corrupt lefties running Annapolis AND I plan to get involved in SC politics, supporting Pro-2A elected officials, as I know the communists are relentless and won't quit until all of America is destroyed. Yes, I really do see it as that level of ideological conflict, but that's another tread.

We found a place on Forest Lake, one of the smaller, older homes. We like the area.

Just curious, why Florence instead of the beach?
Son and daughter-in-law are up the road in Dillon. He's a fire fighter and she's an OBG. SC picking up her med school debts to work there and he rolled in with Houston FD experience so he's doing some training too. Not where we wanted to live, Dillon, but close to our new grandson down in Florence. Florence is a great town and an easy drive to Lake Jocassee.

Well a hearty congratulations. It's a beautiful state with nice people and favorable politics. We plan to head to Charleston eventually

Probably doesn't want to deal with the hurricane fallout.
True, and real estate prices near the coast have skyrocketed. I'm in Charleston, and while the property taxes are much lower than the NE/MD area, house prices are pretty comparable. People have been flocking to SC for 15 years, doubt you'd find any bargains near the water anymore, probably not even Lake Moultrie, Marion or Murray
