I decided to see what happens to my CMMG Banshee pistol and Obsidian 9 when I fire 1000 rounds of mixed lead and PC bullets though them without cleaning. WOW what a load of dirt!
Luckily I spray my baffles with Anti Spatter spray and I have an US cleaner so the can cleans easy except for a little carbon brushing. However, my Banshee has dirt and oil all the way back to the buffer tube. And this gun isn't even gas operated.
It will take some labor to clean the pistol but it was an experience. The gun never hiccuped or failed no matter what I put in it. There is no leading in the barrel even though 50 percent of the rounds fired were Alox coated. There are plenty of white streaks from the paint though.
Accuracy never suffered but I only shoot this at 25 yards. Today I shot the last 200 rounds with double and triple taps and it ran like a dream.
In the future however, I plan to clean both after 500 rounds.
