I took down my first fox last night in the back yard around the chicken coop. I had been seeing paw prints and some digging but the little buggers are very skittish and never around when I peek outside. I decided to install some motion alarms that would signal me when there was movement outside and within two nights I managed to get one of the two culprits. I'm very glad I decided to get the added Furbearer added to my license this year.

Now I'm hooked on predator hunting lol.... The Fox is really nice and the coat is perfect. I shot it with one of my high powered .22 cal PCP air rifles at 27 yards right behind the eye. It went 10 feet before dropping like a rock.

So where do you guys recommend for getting it skinned and tanned? I was going to mount it but was quoted $750 and a 10 month turn around! I don't know why it would be so expensive but it is so I think a hide including feet would be good enough. I'm located in Garrett county near Deep Creek Lake.

Hello there C.Alls, nice fox and should have even nicer fur than most MD foxes since it' s a "mountain fox". I charge 475.00 for a full mount, and they are my specialty to boot.

here's some examples of red foxes I have done

    Nice Fox!

Nice fox! I've been trapping in that area for a few years now. The fox there seem more elusive. I'm from the George's Creek area originally… been seeing lots of grays up that way lately.

Those look great! I currently have the fox in a large zip lock bag inside my garage freezer. Is this a safe way to store it till I can get it to you? How do you do payment? All up front or all when your done? How about doing a hide? Something I could hang on the wall? Feel free to PM me the info if that works better for you or call me 301-501-7779

    Hey Calls,

That rifle looks exactly like my Disco. I'll bet I even have the same muzzle break. They are super accurate and so quiet that, when I shoot crows, the others stand around and don't move.:lol:

I like to get half down on all mounts and other services. 1/3 is my minimum, then you can mail the next 1/3rd within so many months and the last 1/3 when the item is done. Or you can pay it all up front or whatever.

Yes the big ziplock is fine for a couple months or even longer. A tanned hide with the feet on it costs 65.00, and includes the skinning.
