For handguns I use a Lewis Lead Remover. Its a cleaning rod that uses a brass screen to clean with .
Why? Lead needs to be physically removed. I've used a bore brush with good results. Kroil will help get under the lead to separate it from the steel. But I've never leaded up a barrel so bad that I would need something like the Lewis kits or pot scrubbers.Thanks. I have the Big 45 and Chore Boys but it's the chemical products I'm interested in.

Ammonia products are used to dissolve copper. Doesn't do a thing to lead.
