One of the more interesting things in that letter is that you need to qualify with one of your own firearms, but can then carry any aquired after the permit, without needing to requalify. That seems contrary to what I had read before, that stated you need to qualify with each weapon. That’s a big change.

I would expect nothing less than chicanery from N.J... but I really want a NJ(and now N.Y.) permit as more of a "thumb in their eye" thing. If I can't carry there, I'll stay out... well... except for my nightly trek up the turnpike(Stoveman's favorite road... ).

Update: NJSP are saying this email is not authentic.

This email is supposedly from the upper ranks of the NJSP. They are trying to address the issues with other departments sitting on applications waiting for "guidance". View attachment 372419 View attachment 372420

Take it for what you may. Looks like I'll be sending in the applications for my wife and me once we can get to a range to qualify.

Is this the referring to that “loophole“?
