    I picked up this interesting trench knife and am curious what you think.
    My understanding is that while waiting for action the GI was inspired to cut away the brass and replace it with canopy glass from aircraft. You can still see the ".1" from "M. 1918" and the "C" from "L.F.& C.".

    It's a good story if nothing else.

    That's pretty cool. Yup - you'll find a fair share of these types of field modded knives. It's usually on knives that originally came with leather washer handles that ended up rotting away and falling apart. So, the troops in the field "fixed" them themselves.

    Now that's cool! Thanks for sharing it, never seen a theater altered Mark I knife like that. Someone definitely spent a lot of time working on that knife.
