Sorry - I'm sure this has been asked before but I have searched and have not been able to find a difinitive answer.

My friend wants to borrow one of my pistols (regulated handgun) to take to the range. He is 21+, can legally possess and handgun, but does NOT have an HQL. Am I allowed to lend my gun to him?

    Thanks

at the aelr hearing, the MSP said yes.

However, I wouldn't do it. If he gets stopped, you could both be in trouble. Call a lawyer.

Thank you. I read the thread and it sounds like although the MSP says it is ok to do, this has not yet been tested in courts. So for now that is the State Police's "interpretation" of the law regarding "receiving" a regulated firearm.

Honestly I think I may just tell my friend to rent a handgun at the range to avoid even the small chance that this could come back to bite me if he were stopped, or the gun was involved in some sort of accident at the range
