S&W SD9VE... awesome. Fail to fire due to cheap ammo. No issues otherwise. $410 out the door
For a steel gun, I like the Browning Hi Power or CZ-75. For plastic (and my overall top choice), Glock 19.
+1 on the ruger p95... I have a p89 myself, its a heavy brick but that thing has never once had an issue and they will last a lifetime. On top of that they are super cheap!Ruger P95 Best 9mm for the Value. One can be had for around 300.00. Over a 1000 rnds through mine and not one problem. IMHO.
Any name brand. I like the Glock. But I have sworn myself not buy anymore plastic guns. A friends german shepard chew up his Glock 17 destroying the frame (firearm no longer functional). And a Sig Sauer (all steel) was recovered from a house fire (said to be 1300 degrees) and was still functional/still in use. I have heard of the plastic frames warped by extreme heat conditions.
Sig Sauer SP2022. You won't find too many people unhappy with this pistol.

And that's why i stay away from Glock. The only model i found more comfortable than my SD9VE was the Sig P226. Held like a dream. And that's up against the ruger, walther, Beretta, HK, and a couple forgettable others.glock 17 or 19 are great if your hands arnt to big or small
