Good morning Baltimore afficianados-- An old Army buddy is in Baltimore this weekend and staying at the Sheraton Inner Harbor. He wants to get together for lunch today. I know next to nothing about the area. My concerns are where can I park safely. Best ingress to the inner harbor area coming from the west. AND... any good recommendations for a place to eat within safe walking distance from the Sheraton-- thanks in advance

I'd just go to Pratt Street Ale House across from convention center if walking is the limiting factor.

Parking is expensive anywhere down there so just park at Sheraton if that is where he's staying.

Alternative would be to pick him up, go to Fells Point to eat and drop him off.

Thnx Norton- He's also got his 4 year old son w/him and I thin he might want to stay in the area of the hotel. His wife is attending a convention/seminar--. I appreciate the recommendation.

Pick your friend up at the hotel and drive to Canton. There are several good restaurants on O'Donnell square. Claddaghs is one of my favorites. Stay away from the inner harbor area if you are walking. I moved out of the city after the Grey riots and try not to go back. It's gotten worse in the 8 years since I left. Canton has free parking and is safe.

What he said. Used to work next door and lunched there probably weekly when it was still the Wharf Rat. It's been just as good the handful of times I've been back.

If you head over to Fells Point, there are lots of options. Or... you could go grab some Reubens at Attman's on what's left of Corned Beef Row.

Take him to Hooters - that'd be just perfect for his 4-year old son. :lol2:
If Hooters had decent food perhaps... never have found anything great about the food on offer. The novelty of having cleavage placed in my face aside... I've always found the food to be... meh.

If you want the "real" baltimurder, walk to Lexington Market..
Or pretty much any place around the inner harbor..
Drive out of that area and enjoy the Baltimore experience.

Yeah that is pretty close and has good food. I like Federal Hill for a little exposure to Baltimore Vs. the touristy harbor area.
Sounds like the simplest option so far. The opportunity to see an old friend is the driving factor tor here-- parking cost is the least concern-- but safety is a high priority. And isn't that a sad commentary on a once great city---:sad20:
