M1 Garand

Hello all, I recently acquired a Springfield Armory M1 Garand, I know next to nothing about it. I am having a problem getting the op rod openend all yhe way in order to load the rifle. Any help would be appreciated.

It is not locking back when you pull the op rod back?

It will lock back but not all the way to be able to load ot

Have you disassembled it since purchasing it? You may need to strip it down. Do you have photos of the locked back bolt and loading area?

I have it stripped down now I will post apic as soon as I can figure out how to do it

You don't need to completely disassemble it all the time, unless you want to do a thorough cleaning.

You may want to look at the reassembly video, the op rod catch looks low. I have done that myself when I first disassembled it. The video is helpful.
