Now that there is a serious push to amended the MD state constitution yet again (I think there are 4 bills all having to do with adding abortion rights to the constitution this session), I'm wondering if there is anyone in the MGA that has the guts to stand up and say we need a 2A like Amendment to our constitution before we add things like abortion and how many freaking slot machines we should have in the state. If you didn't know, 44 states have firearms rights enshrined in their state constitutions... but not Maryland my Maryland. Burns me up. I swear that Annapolis hates liberty.

I hope no one brings it up. With the current make up they would amend the state constitution to out right ban guns. Then they get to disarm us while we spend years fighting it in court. We will win but it still wont go well for us.

This gets me sick when I see people salivating over the right to kill babies. Perhaps we should push for a law that penalizes people too stupid to practice birth control methods.

I would be all for a 2A amendment to the MD Constitution but I can't see it happening with all the left wing people in this State.

Can a state constitution fly in the face of the CONUS? I'm sure the answer is no.

The US Constitution still has supremacy, so even if they did something that dumb, it would have no force of law.

But a State Constitution does map where its values are... and they might do it for the virtue signal value alone. I really want to fix this state, but I am truly feeling like it is beyond hope.

MD will honor the right to murder before your right to protect yourself.
Yup. That's why SB1 was written by and for the safety of all manner of criminals. More people lawfully carrying took a huge bite out of the protection income and cash tips for carry permits.

Well, I've read all the posts, so far, and I am of the opinion that anytime you mess with Constitutions, you run the risk of topics included in the original proposal to amend the
original document. It's obvious, to me, that 'We The People" in this State have little impact
on the MGA. Seems to me, it is obvious, that MGA is a hard left, socialistic, organ that is bent on their social program(s). And it's tentacles reach into every facet of life in this State. They continue to change the Educational System, and that is just for starters. What better way to push a program than to "educate" the young in their "new world order?

That being said, 2A is, for the most part, a "dead issue on arrival". It has even flowed over into 1A.
The fight to have 2A addressed has been a decades long battle with only a few "victories" SCOTUS has recently ordered a change. Liked by many, hated by most, especially in this State and others of the same ideals. But it may be only temporary, and Roe V Wade is a classic example.
SCOTUS overthrew R V W after nearly 50 years. How long before SCOTUS changes it's collective minds on 2A?
Its been said," you can't legislate Morals". Abortion is a Moral question, and SCOTUS decided to turn that question over to "We The People". An so it is left to each Political biased State to make the decision. In this State it is a tough rode to travel to stop the avalanche of Deep Blue Social
    Progressive agenda.
There was a time when such moral questions were addressed in churches. However, the decline in attendance all but precludes their addressing the issues.
Going bak to the original opinions, changing Constitutions is a very risky business.
    Off soapbox Thanks for reading......

? you'd be much more likely to trigger them in to adding an amendment banning firearms in the state.

The MD Constitution Article 2 declares that the US Constitution is supreme. Years ago I came across information that spoke of a debate in MD as to whether the 2A as specified in the BoR should be included in the State's. It seems a representative from Baltimore nixed the idea stating it would be redundant. The rest is history.
