    Hey Everyone,

    I’m looking to purchase a Springfield Armory Professional 1911 or a Professional Operator 1911 chambered in 9mm. MFG # PC9119, PC9119-V2 or PC9119LR and PC9119LR-V2.
These are custom shop pistols not listed on the Maryland Handgun Roster. However, what is listed is the following:

    Manufacturer: Springfield Armory
    Model: 1911
    Model Number: N/A
    Caliber: 9mm

    Manufacturer: Springfield Armory
    Model: 1911 A1
    Model Number: N/A
    Caliber: 9mm

    Manufacturer: Springfield Armory
    Model: 1911 Custom
    Model Number: N/A
    Caliber: 9mm

    Manufacturer: Springfield Armory
    Model: 1911 Special Build
    Model Number: N/A
    Caliber: 9mm

Any one of these can adequately describe the pistol I am trying to purchase however when I scroll down to “professional” or “operator” they only list the 45 ACP.

Any idea if I can still buy this pistol? I appreciate everyone’s help on this one. Thanks!

Some time ago, MSP decided that they will ignore model nomenclature as manufacturers change names for cosmetic stuff like just changing the colors of a gun while the basic platform is the same. You see this a lot in 1911's and 1873 Colt clones.

You can call Rachael at the Handgun Roster board and she will let you know. I'm willing to bet that a 1911 is a 1911 no matter what you call it.

What John said. Buds is real picky about this and refused to sell me a certain model M&P Performance Center model because it wasn't named specifically in the roster. I ordered it from grabagun and never used Buds since.

Different calibers are not different models.
I had to submit for a SA 1911 SASS in .357 Mag.
(Oddball gun - single shot with 11" flip up barrel")
It was already approved for two or three other calibers.

Caliber additions are easy but the whole thing takes time.
I sent in my paperwork at the beginning of August and if it passes, I can take possession on Oct. 23rd.

The models listed on the roster were 9mm so the custom model should be good to go. Again, Rachael is the person that will give the final ok.

1911N/A 10 mm, 22 LR, 357 Sig, 38 Super, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 9 mm, All calibers approved. Please enter caliber if not listed.

So this logic means the M&P metal should be ok since it isn't the M&P just made out of different materials. Right?

To everyone that replied I appreciate all of your responses! I contacted Rachel and unfortunately I would have to petition to have the 9mm added to the roster. If I were to go through with the process, the firearm will not be available for sale until January 2023. I have decided to buy a Wilson Combat custom 1911 that is on the roster instead. I was fortunate enough to try one in my time living in PA and I am more than happy with their products. Again, thank you all for your help!

He said that model is on the roster but only in 45 cal. So they already decided it’s not just a 1911 ( even though it is ) so he would be stuck applying for the different caliber.

    I wonder how this would apply to that new 2011 by springfield. They're calling it a 1911-DS (I think) it's a 9mm. Would that be a 9mm 1911?

Doesn't matter, wife isn't letting be buy another new gun.

Are you going to take that!? YOU make the decisions!

(Please don't tell my wife I wrote this. I don't want to be sleeping in the garage. Again.)

Call and check trying to use normal human logic will drive you nuts in regards to the handgun roster. There is a thread about the newer P365 model that needed approval even though mechanically it is identical to all the other P365 models that were already approved.
