Subject: GUN BILLS - Maryland Hunting Coalition - MLSC Opposition Letters

The Maryland Hunting Coalition's singular purpose is to represent the varied
interests of the State's hunting community, principally from a
policy-related perspective in the Halls of Annapolis. We do our absolute
best to be responsive to any reasonable concern shared with us, preferably
    through direct dialogue.

When we believe an issue warrants a time-sensitive response, we act. No one
will ever know how we go about our business because it's not important.
What is important is the result.

Know this; however, when we believe a broader effort is required we look no
further than the nationally acclaimed, bi-partisan Maryland Legislative
Sportsmen's Caucus. We have a unique relationship with them and do indeed
work cooperatively as evidenced by the following gun-related position
statements issued by the Caucus this week.

    Allan Ellis, Executive Director
    Maryland Hunting Coalition, Inc.

Nice touch that they come out with this after the other organizations that they disavowed have done all the heavy lifting for them. Poseurs.

Better late to the party then not to show up at all. This is part of the problem we have with many of the issues that face hunters, shooters and collectors. While we should all be on the same page opposing or supporting any and all bills that effect any segment of our community, we aren't. There is strength in numbers. Just think if all the gun owners here in Maryland were to call once a week to their elected officials, we would have CCW/Open Carry/ARs and a host of other things we want or have lost. Chris

    Senator Astle's letter to Zirkin

    I like Astle's question on SB947 ...

"Has an Advice of Counsel from the Attorney General been sought to answer this question?"

    Give me a break ...

Brian Frosh's opinion is a foregone conclusion. In his official capacity, of COURSE it's legal, constitutional, and a "common sense gun safety measure" ... besides, any cockamamie bill that they pass to force Hogan too veto, puts a feather in Frosh's cap when he runs for Governor in 2018. :mad54:

Astle is being way too polite. Is that his way out when this thing passes ?

Aren't they concerned that a Maryland hunter might be mistakenly put on the Terrorism Watch List and deprived of his right to buy a shotgun?

Do they know that driving through campus at Frostburg State University to get to I68 to go hunting will result in a lifetime prohibition of firearms ownership for running a stop sign? Oh, and maybe a mandatory 5 years in prison?
