Massachusetts Carry Permits Renewals - 4 Months

Just wanted to post this for those who may be considering a Massachusetts Permit to Carry or those who may have to renew their existing MA PTC.

The Massachusetts State Police is taking a while to renew PTC's. My wife and I submitted our renewals (Via FedEx Overnight) on August 22 and we received our renewed permits yesterday. 127 Days.

Plan accordingly for your renewals so yours does not expire while waiting for your renewal.

Aren't the Massachusetts permits only valid for one year to begin with? So you basically need to start the renewal process around month seven to be safe?

That's ridiculous. I renewed my Alabama permit in under 10 minutes once, in person AND when they transitioned from the old paper card to a laminated card with my picture on it. The reason it takes that long is beacause they can.

I recently sent my renewal ~5 months before expiration which looks like it was a smart move. We'll see if the new one actually shows up before the current one expires.
