Just curious if anyone has planned to submit the new Walther PPS M2 to the Handgun Roster, or is it even needed?

Nevermind. I emailed Ms. Marlene Jenkins (the Handgun Roster Board Administrator) and she kindly emailed the following info:

"Reviewed at last meeting - tentative sale date 3/19/16"

The M2 is engraved simply PPS, which is already on the roster.

While you are correct in that there are no differences in marking other than location and font (just like the Walther PPQ M1 and M2), the M1 and M2 have distinctly different builds (different slide, grip, mag release and no accessory rail). Consequently, the Handgun Board lists them separately. Whether this is required or not depends on who you ask. Some FFLs have said not required, while most I've spoken with have said the opposite. Ms. Jenkins has stated that the M2, specifically, will be added and be available for sale on 3/19/16.

If you were able to procure one from your FFL before the addition to the roster, good on you (I did the same with the TP9SA). However, legally, the M2 can't be sold to us average citizens until 3/19.

What's the trigger on this one like? I'm not expecting a PPQ, but an improvement over the regular PPS (M1)?

I just ordered the LE version of the PPS M2 (phosphorous sights, 3 mags) but the M2 is on backorder from my FFLs distributor. Hopefully the gun will get here around the same time it appears on the roster. I've read several reviews that say that the PPS M2 trigger is much improved, not quite as good as the PPQ, but better than the M1.

Oh, and thank you again for letting me know about the new PPS - I sold my M1 a few weeks ago specifically so that I could buy the new one. It will round out my PPQ-ish Walthers (PPQ M2 and P22Q).

    I sending in these...EAA corp/Sarsilmaz SAR K2, SAR K2DC or SAR B6P, SAR K2P.

Fairly inexpensive and good quality from reviews...

Are you submitting these for the roster? I was looking into purchasing one of the K2s a few months back and was bummed that they weren't already on it.

I take it you don't realize you were responding to an FFL dealer, a very good and knowledgeable one.

Yeah, I might end up picking one up too. Been debating on a slim 9mm. Nicest trigger that I've so far tried in this category was on a Ruger LC9s Pro (great price point too), but I am a sucker for Walther products.

No offense, but I personally deal with four different FFLs here in SoMD, all of which are very knowledgeable - and they have differing opinions regarding this subject. It isn't a matter of knowledge, it's a matter of interpretation of the confusing Maryland gun laws. Also, the "available for sale" comment was a direct quote from the lady from the Handgun Roster Board. Go tell her that she is wrong...

Yes, I sent all the info to Ms. Jenkins.

The B6P full size is but there is a compact Model designated as K2DC aka B6P Compact...and the ST10.

Also I just sent in the KRISS Sphinx Models; Compact and Sub Compact...still working the Standard...

and the KRISS Vector 9mm variant...last month...and AREX Rex Zero 1 Pistol...

She had told me these should be on the 3/7 Board...

Usually when I see something not on the Roster I submit a Petition...

Thank you Gunny...I've been very interested in the EAA compacts so thank you for getting them in front of the board and for the update.

Although I know they've been selling in MD, the PPS M2 in 9mm is on the roster as of today, May 16, 2016 (the listing was delayed for whatever reason).

Here are a few shots that I took in comparison to a Talo Glock 43 (kindly permitted by the owner of Gunrunners) with the 6-rd or 8-rd mag in the PPS depending on the pic. All extra mags (6, 7, and 8-rd) in the pics belong to the PPS.

The Glock 43 was sleeker, more streamlined, thinner, and lighter. It had a decent trigger pull for a small gun (which apparently is under an 8.5 lb limit possibly required in MoCo for LE to carry off duty). The Walther felt good in the hand and noticeably heavier. The trigger, as Nate mentioned upthread, is as close as you can get to a PPQ in a small gun.

Thanks for posting! My M2 (sniff!) hasn't come in yet, so I'm quite jealous :)

I might have to look in to an M2.

I *love* my 1st gen PPS, but the idea of using a pistol that is as easy to accidentally disable as the 1st gen is with the stupid removable backstrap lock thing is not cool.

Finally picked up mine. Was traveling, otherwise would have had it nearly two weeks ago. Love the fit in the hand, despite its thinness. Will probably take it to the range in the next few days.

Gunrunners has the LE version with three mags in their case for $499. They also have the 5-inch PPQ M2.

Here are some side-by-sides with a Walther P99c AS with a 10-rd, double stack mag. The PPS M2 has a 7-rd mag in it. I find the P99c AS trigger to be much better than the very decent PPS M2 trigger. I'm happy with the PPS M2 in terms of proportions (and slimness for IWB carry), but won't be getting rid of my P99c AS (and might even get another in the future).
