I vote to keep her stock as well. The only thing I would replace on that is the rear sight aperture. upgrade to an A2 to get the bigger hole for CQB.

Keeping it simple teaches you the right fundamentals of shooting. master the use of the iron sight. You will be surprised how adequate the A1 sight is for most applications. The lightweight barrel and its light weight makes it an ideal SHTF rifle.

I just dusted off one of my very first AR15s... an SGW CAR15. Retro ( over 20 years old) and I found myself enjoying shooting more with A-1 sights.

I vote to keep that one stock. If you want to pimp one out, buy a 6920 or a BCM, but you're not allowed to trade that one in! It's a classic. Nice gun.

Fact it's an early 80's "stock" rifle.
    Leave it stock.
Build a second AR and use it for your upgrade platform.

Side note. I shot my first AR last week. 20" long barrel.
Since then decided to leave it stock. But build a second AR to use as a "play" platform trying different sights, scopes, handrails, ect. But allways keep the first as a long range, basic target rifle.
There are just too many options when building these guns.
I decided to keep one basic. The other as a test bed to configure into whatever I want to shoot at that given moment.

    Like haveing two cars.
Use one as your daily driver. Second as your race car,off road car, cornering car, ect. Whatever is needed to that given chore.
Can anyone have just one AR?:)
