My first k98k. A 1941 byf Mauser Oberndorf. All numbers match EXCEPT bolt and front band, even the stock matches receiver serial number.
Trying to collect all the major allied and axis powers infantry rifles. Have the Garands, M1 Carbine, 99 Arisaka and just added this k98k. I did as much research as I could and at least I belive I got a good example of a WWII Wehrmacht rifle.

That's a nice one for a first k98k. Alot nicer than my first k98k (well used romanian capture). Congratulations. Ones like that are getting harder to come by.

Congrats on the find! Good luck on filling out the rest of your list. Were you able to find your Russian M91/30?

S84/98 III (K98k) 1940 E.u.F. Horster Bayonet with numbers matching scabbard and a 1940 frog. Blueing is in pretty good shape and it has never been sharpened. The grip screws are not correct but I have located an order a set of the correct screws (actually bolts and nuts)

    Those are truly great rifles.
    German engineering.
And, the ones made before late-war slave labor started to degrade them, are just amazing.
    IMHO, of course.
