    This is the first centerfire rifle I owned. Bought a few years ago. Got it as unissued, and it looked so, soaked in cosmo. I tried bleeding the cosmo out of the stock using heat but never got it all out. Got tired of shooting and after the barrel heats up got cosmo all over my hands. So I bought a Yugo stock off ebay and refinished with Sedona red stain and some poly. Yeah, I know, not correct, but reversible. Bedded the receiver with JB Weld, got a Kavaari trigger job and stainless gas valve saving the original. Shoots great, my favorite semi auto to shoot.

    She was a battle rifle, now a beloved recreational rifle. The original grease sponge is up in the attic wrapped in towels. Hopefully cosmo free in 20 years. As was before;

    The little boy across the street my son plays with is obsessed with toy guns, light sabres, and playing army. Since my old airsoft SKS broke, I used some Krylon Fusion to make it look like my paratrooper. For my son. The other kid had a realistic looking M16, so I figured a halfway looking real SKS wouldn't hurt. Told him not to point it at anyone and not to remove the orange tip.

    Good job. I hope you keep the wood on it, it looks great that way.

    I know what you mean about the wood. I had to catch mine on fire to get the cosmoline out.

    The cosmolene will keep your hands soft and supple in the cold winter.
    I guess Veronika is your bikini girl.
    Looks nice and SKSs are fun shooters

    I sold all the Tapco stuff. I had a "moment", then came back down. I used heat, and soaked this stock in a wallpaper tray of denatured alcohol to get any residual cosmo out before stain and poly. I just couldn't keep the rifle on target after a while when my hands got greasy.

    Never knew there was a SKS Paratrooper model. Just great! Now I need another firearm on my wish list! (j/k) :-)

    The paratrooper was a commercial gimmick, not (as far as I know) a legit military version, however, the paratrooper SKS IS more practical and well balanced in my opinion.
