Myrtle Grove Update

The Myrtle Grove rifle/pistol range is currently closed to rebuild the baffles and berm. According to the posted sign they are scheduled to reopen March 5, 2008. If the work is completed earlier it may open sooner.

I was hoping that they would add a separate 50 or 25 yard range, but just repairing the existing range.

I stopped by there on Sunday, they were working on the range, posted off limits, so I couldn't see exactly what they were doing, but I could hear equipment running.

"An eight-station firearm shooting range, trap range, and three-station archery range are open for public use by permit."

I believe you get a permit at the same place you would get a hunting permit. I will be checking this out soon.

Nice range, interesting group of regulars. Opens late 1300? on sunday, 8 or 9 on saturdays...

Went to the Myrtle Grove range a few days ago, there wasn't anybody there but still had a good time. I didn't shoot very good but that was the first time I have shot in a little less than a year I think. I am going to start shooting alot more often. It is a nice little drive from where I am at and definitely puts a dent on the gas gauge but like I said the range looks good. Hoping to get out there more often.

Sorry but I was only shooting .22 cal on this first trip since the improvements were made to the range and only walked down as far as 50 yds. So I didn't bother looking at 100 yds.
