Alligator gar. Very hard to fillet. Use tin snips. Was it in briny water? Got really big eyes for a gar tho.

After looking at the gar I have hanging on my wall..that ain't it. Fins are different and eyes are too.

It's a mutant bottlenose dolphin, whose ancestors have been swimming and reproducing for untold decades in O.C. waters too close to the oft-untreated sewage of bars, nightclubs, boarding houses, beach houses, and hotels.

Stroll the O.C. boardwalk in the wee hours of the night and you'll see their bipedal relatives.

+1. Based upon size, I'm thinking Houndfish. That would be a HUGE Needlefish- as in state record huge.
Definitely not a Gar.

I know nothing about fish, but a guick Google search comparison would tell anyone that has to be a houndfish.

We went back this past weekend and saw it off in the distance again. Then we heard a howl. Then a little yellow bird came by and we saw a red dog house floating in the bay. Bald fisherman yelled uuuuughhhh. On the other side and then a freckled faced girl yelled "what is wrong there Chuck"?
