Need help identifying part that fell out of AK 47

Hey y'all my buddy purchased a Ak and asked me to help him give her a good clean.
Long story short as i pull the bolt assembly out. This weird piece of metal just pops out onto the table and for the life of me i cannot locate where it goes. I appreciate any and all help y'all

Possibly also a piece of dental apparatus from the two bit illiterate conscript who made the thing. Probably needed the dental work after having a commie tic tac.

That'd be my guess is the recoil spring retainer, although that one looks a little different then ones I've seen.
