Hello MD Shooters, I just moved here from California (Active Navy) and had some questions on MD gun laws.
Hopefully the are better than liberal California.

    1. Do I have to register my guns with the state?
    2. What is max mag capacity here? In CA it's 10rd max for rifle and pistol.
    3. Are detachable mags ok for AR rifles or is a bullet button required?

    Thanks,

    Carlos

Hidey Ho from SMIBville. 1 No. 2 20 rnds if purcased or aquired in MD but you can cross any border and get all the Beta mags you want and bring them back. 3 Bullet Button!!!! We don't need no stinking bullet buttons!!! But the extended ambidextrious mag release of your choice is recommended and a supressor is just a tax stamp away.

The only guns you have to register are machine guns.

You have to go out of state to buy mags over 20 rounds, but you can bring in as many 30- 40- 100 round mags as you want for personal use. You just can't transfer or manufacture them in-state. In Maryland, you're never more than 30 miles from the State Line.

No bullet buttons here. Most people probably never heard of them.

Welcome to the Free State: take tball up on his offer.

Thanks for the info guys. Being able to to shoot more than 10 rounds at one time is going to be awesome. Anyone want to buy 10rd AR and M9 mags...lmk. lol.

BTW, are shotguns and rifles cash and carry or is there a waiting period?

Cash and carry! As long as its not on the "regulated" list, and barrel lengths aren't federally fun, pay and play.

    1. Registration is voluntary.
    2. No mag caP limit. You can oly buy 20 rounders in state, but it's all flood to bring them across state lines.
    3. Detach mags are ok. **** Bullet buttons.

Are the 10 rounders 30 round bodies or short 10 rounders? Might be interested for bench work and reload drills.

Welcome. In MD there are two types of rifles and shotguns. The first is what the state calls "regulated" longarms. There is a list of evil looking battle rifle types, like Ak's, FALs, etc and they require both a Federal 4473 and MD paperwork called 77R. There is a $10 fee and a seven day wait. Handguns are also regulated.

Any other long arm is just a 4473 and cash and carry.

BTW, the regulated rifle/shotgun list was created as a piece of legislation. No one can add to that list without amending the existing law. Also, only certain rifles and a shotgun are on the list, not things like a flash hider or collapsible stock.

BTW, keep the 10 round M9 mags for IDPA or other shooting games.
