This is my first AR build and I need help finding a barrel that meets these specs (combination of personal preference and state compliance):

    -16"
    -.223 wylde
    -Cold hammer forged or CMV
    -Mid length gas system
-Socom or heavy barrel (can be fluted)
    -1:9 twist

    Any and all help appreciated!!

Engage Armament has White Oak barrels that meet most of those specs (not sure about CHF or CMV) and they're 1:8 IIRC but they're great durable barrels.

Pretty sure a SOCOM barrel profile will not pass muster... has to be a heavy barrel unless you are building on a pre 2013 lower... ;)

Welcome to MDS. As for barrel choices, You'll be better served with a 1:8. It will give you the best of both worlds, handling the shorter(lighter) varmint type bullets while still stabilizing the longer, heavier target bullets as well. I guess it all comes down to what role your rifle will fill.
