    Straight from the Sheriff's office:

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is expanding both the locations and scope of the Automated Speed Enforcement Program. The below list identifies the new locations that will be receiving speed cameras in the near future. MCPD is also introducing a new “Corridor Approach” deployment strategy with the speed cameras. Currently there are 67 roadways that are included and being protected by the Safe Speed program. In the new deployment strategy, the cameras (portable and mobile) will be continuously relocated along the roadway so that people will have to “respect the speed limit” on the entire stretch of the corridor. Attached is the entire list of Safe Speed roads and corridors.

Must be planning some more spending, time to generate some revenue.

Montgomery Village Ave doesn't exist, used to, never replaced. Same for 16th Street in Silver Spring close to DC line.

The remainder aren't new, been in place for a while now.

The counties appear to get very little money really. I think the state recorded a loss on their first few audits of the programs.

The companies make the money...and I'm betting the companies line the politicans pocket.

The permanent ones by Lake Whetstone are gone, but they've setup some of the little box-style ones further up the road. They are between Club House road and Apple Ridge, right by the big MVGC landscape-sign-thing.

I live a block away and just noticed them last week... waiting for my "assessment" to come in the mail...:mad54:

I wonder about the little silver boxed ones that are on the ground. They look rather easy to tip over..... I wonder when everyone says enough is enough.

On a somewhat related topic , Shady Grove Rd and Research blvd they just installed a red light camera.... Made sure to cut down 4 grown healthy trees in order to get it set up. Not sure how long it takes to calibrate but it would go off for no reason every time the light was red for a good month.

The permanent ones by the lake have been gone for a while. They have put mobile ones near the golf course.

I try not to venture that far up 124, but didn't know about the mobile ones.

In King Farm - Rockville, they had white vans at one point. I think Howard County has the most red light cameras.

Haven't seen the one near the high school in Damascus yet. Only one I've seen is the one on the way into town from Mount Airy.

BTW from what I understaand, they only get$10.00 out of a $40.00 ticket.
