    Hey guys,

I just mailed my app off yesterday and I'll be taking my local app to the county sherriff in the next few days when I'm out that way. I have a few questions that I can't seem to find the answers to.

I am looking at something like this as a first purchase. Not exactly sure on the make and model but I see them mentioned a lot as being a good first purchase. Not sure of the exact make or model or store I'm going to deal with though. Thoughts, recommendations?

My question is: I see that many handguns come with more then 10 round mags. What are my options, can I have it shipped to a relative in DE or do the mag laws not pertain to C&R firearms?

The mag laws pertain to C&R firearms as well. If the vendor will ship the mags to your friend in America, that would be a good option. Not sure if Weidners does that. I have seen 10 round CZ mags, I think J&G has them.

While waiting for your license, a good place to explore is the 'FAQ, READ ME FIRST' section of the C & R forum

C & R weapons will only be shipped to the address on your license. Most dealers/sellers aren't selling C & R guns to Marylanders if the mag is greater than 10 rounds. Maryland law apply to mags.(none over 10 rounds). You can however go out of MD, buy the higher capacity mags and bring them back.

Widener's will ship the mags separately, I think they quoted me 6 dollars extra for the shipping.

Don't dilly-dally getting a copy of the app to the sheriff. ATF and sheriff copies should be mailed at the same time.

Yeah, I mailed it today. The reason I was going to drop it off is because my wife's car needed emissions done and its like 5 minutes further down rt. 40. But she decided to do it next week with all the weather thats getting ready to come in. Thanks for the advice.

So basically what everyone is saying is just find a website that will mail me the gun and mail the mags to a seperate address. I didn't know if they would seperate the order, but i guess if they are making extra money they'll do anything.

does anyone have any recommendations as far as a first purchase and a place that i should look?

I don't have my license yet, but (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) as I understand it, purchases made to 03 FFL holders will be shipped to the 03 FFL holder's address. If you want to have something (e.g., regulated magazine) shipped to a different address, you'll need to order it separately and not use your 03 FFL.

Purchases made with the license must be shipped to the address on the license.
Legally, I don't see why a seller can't sell a gun without any magazine, shipping it to the address on the license, then sell the magazine as a separate, unregulated transaction, shipping it to an address in America.

Actually finding an understanding seller who would do that seems pretty unlikely to me, however.
