IIRC, ch 5 was out of there by noon

I saw them leaving the committee room about 1:30. I talked to the reporter as he was leaving, he said there wasn't really anything left to see. (As he had to walk out the door and see the foyer filled with people waiting to sign up and those still standing outside to get in.)

WBAL Said the the NRA organized the rally.

If you looked at the video they shot, you'd think so.
NRA distributed hats & swag to those standing in front of the camera view just before the cameras were turned on.
Obvious that they intend to take the glory no matter who does the leg work.

We need to put blue hats up front next time!

I actually received a notification and call to action card about today from the NRA.... today, little late but I guess they did do some organizing, just not enough to take all the credit

Just heard Fox 5 DC only said almost 1000 there today, but I know that they said over 1000 signed up to protest, earlier estimates said over 3000, where did that number come from. They also said over 400 people signed up to testify but I know really early I heard one of the senators say 511 people signed up and then later over 1000. I think we are being marginalized

Those who were able to attend, did it seem more like 3000+ or close to 1000?

Some bull$#-+ I see right off the bat:
More than 700 people on both sides of the issue signed up to testify before the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.
Q: anyone know a rough guess as to how many people testified in SUPPORT of the bills?

    and
The bill’s advocates were given equal time to testify, and prosecutors, police, academics and mental health professionals spent hours expanding on how O’Malley’s proposals should reduce the flow of guns to criminals or those who might be a danger to themselves or others.

Q: Did the anti-gunowners fill up "hours" of the 4-hour block of time they had?

I am working on a complaint to the Post ombudsman on these points, and since I was unfortunately not in Annapolis today I need some info from folks on the ground.

It was a team effort, and the NRA did their part.

I'm fine with the NRA being the boogieman and media target. It leaves us 'foot soldiers' alone to get our job done. We did, and we will continue to do so.

Everytime the NRA gets negative press coverage, they get more members signup ... and so does MSI and all of the other MD grassroots orgs. So let them take the heat, while we run circles around the anti's in the PRofMD.

According to Anthony Brown at the town hall meeting in Rockville this evening, it was "tens of tens". When I had the opportunity to address the panel, I called him out, and then he admitted it WAS actually thousands...

What a day. Saw myself and the people I went to Annapolis with were in a few shots on the channel 4 and 5 coverage.

Block time wasn't 4 hours. Block time was 1 hour each side, alternating, so that each side had a total of 4 hours. Up until I had to leave at about 5:30, each side's hour block was completely used. HOWEVER, all the testimonies FOR the bill up until that time were, with the possible exception of maybe 3, were paid to be there, or paid salaries by the people wanting it passed (O'Malley). Senator Jacobs even said IN THE HEARING that she had talked to several of the LEO that were there to testify FOR the bill, and they told her flatly they were paid to be there. Paid by the people that wanted it passed.

Talk to demontjoie, he stayed until it was over. He said once they got to us commoners, true constituents, that they only had 12-16 people there to testify FOR the bill. Meanwhile, there were still hundreds waiting to testify AGAINST the bill. Hundreds of supporters for the bill, or anything that implies that, isn't a mistake. THAT is a bald-faced LIE, and I'd tell that to Obama's and/or O'Malley's FACE. It was infuriating to sit there and listen to bald-faced lies come out of O'malley's pie hole with such a straight face. That man must be a sociopath to be able to lie that well.

BTW, for the first time in 13 years, the Senate Building was closed before everyone could get in. By the fire marshall, because of over-occupancy. That was 2A supporters, not Lilly-liveried cognitive dissonant progressive socialists.

You got it - but the important part is ... the uncommitted legislators in Annapolis know the truth. They know how many people showed up, they know what the ratio was ...

Neither they nor O'Malley can be certain enough of O'Malley becoming president and gifting them into a cushy federal appointment to risk their current political position

With the defeat of the liberal block in MD vs the successful NY bum's rush by Cuomo ... MOM is behind Cuomo and embarrassed by the failure :)
