Found my fathers first gun 'in the attic' today.. a Marlin Model 90 OU .. it is in great shape.. but hasnt been fired in 40 years or so..

any ideas on what I should do before I try it out? it function checks fine, safety re-engages itself after you close the break.. seems to be tight with snap caps. going to clean it up and take it out this weekend.

F3001 serial number.. anyone know anything about these? I think (via google) it is pre-1950 manufacture.. not sure though..

depends on the choke and the ammunition. Look on the box the shells came in you should be able to shoot foster or brenneke type slugs through it as long as the choke isn't too tight.

No sabot slugs, they are for rifled barrels.

with a double barrel and bead sight you won't get great accuracy, and you won't get the same point of impact for both barrels, but you can do it if you want.

not looking for accuracy right now.. lots of rifle ranges are slugs only - just want to put a few rounds down range for now.

yea smooth bore, no sabot for me..

will stick to shot for now at the trap range I guess =)

when I found this thing, the first thing I thought of was giving Crazy Al a double magnum slug load and watching him smile after...

this gun will be at MG on sunday if I can get back down south..

found what seemed to be a mossberg 410 bolt action? and a mossberg .22LR rifle with a plastic fold down foregrip..

those will come home when I am driving alone..
